Sygic Australia & New Zealand: GPS Navigation App Reviews

Great Gps apps!!

This is my 1st apps that really made me willing to spent some time to rate and review. The graphics is so detail and smooth, compared with others similar apps. In fact, sygic so far is the BEST gps apps I have used. Zoom in and Zoom out is so fluid, the one you can only see at Google maps. I wonder why there only few who give rates and review this great app. HIghly recommended!!!

Great App

Excellent accuracy and graphics. User interface takes a little to get use to but once you do probably the best navigation app available.

Pretty good

Patiently waiting for retina graphics

generally good

I bought this App to test before buying the one for europe and UK. Have decided to test in my local area. Some new roads that have been in place for a couple of years are not included as options, yet they show a new road layout that hasnt been completed yet. Luckily, NZ is a small country and isnt a problem. I will be testing more before making the european committment. i do like the fact that the voice doesnt yell at you when you deviate from the proscribed route. He/she just recalibrates, with no anger. Thats nice!

Frustratingly poor UI

Update: UI if anything is getting worse. Its functional - but they keep adding bloat that makes it harder to use. Now random locations pop up in your history - and its constantly begging you to log-in while driving! Finding a street address is a time- consuming unintuitive process. It also forgets your home location and other settings every time the software updates

Sygic AU & NZ for iOS - Bad

Do not buy this GPS. Absolutely bad. 10% as compared to T.. T.. The system is very slow & direction is bad. I cant find most of the place with it. Have to rely on Google maps info to find destination info.

Sygic vs Garmin vs Google

I purchased both N. American and Australian maps because they were on 25% sale. Well. I moved too fast on that decision. The apps seem to have a lots of neat features, but compare to the "real world" of GPS hardware such as Garmin, Sygic annoying features seems a decade behind Garmin and Google. The navigation gives direction on each traffic light. The voice activated direction does not contain street names. HUD is an extra cost. And the HUD display creates double vision on the windshield. Sygic does not display the active lane guidance which is a built induction for all GPS hardwares these days.

Disjointed for removing school zone speed variation notification

Dont know why remove that useful function from sygic. Its only thing can beat tomtom!

Really good GPS

After using Apple Maps in Australia and seeing a lot of improvements in turn-by-turn directions I still recommend Sygic for the speed cameras. Going through VIC and SA its almost a must to have the most recent speed traps in the app to give you a Fair warning. The app overall is very good, the maps are good and the turn-by-turn directions are very good, the only thing that is very annoying is the Homer Simpson voice which will drive you crazy and is a waste of $5. Other than that, its good and I would recommend it over Apples map app.

Never worked

I bought this App to use on a recent trip. I could never get it to work. It wouldnt connect to a signal. Really disappointed

Horrible app

I purchased for a trip to New Zealand in March 2015. The first day, it could barely keep up while walking in Auckland. Then we tried driving...its so delayed and basically useless. I got a refund.

Works decently as an offline gps

I bought this app because I was going to be driving around Australia and would be visiting NZ But wouldnt have any data access so I couldnt use Apple or Google maps. The app works pretty well for directions although it can occasionally tell you to turn suddenly. If you have a phone holder or a passenger that doesnt doze off every 3 minutes the display does alleviate this problem. The POI catalogue is also a bit zany, it didnt have a lot of restaurants but did have some obtuse businesses that I guess someone might care about. This is not so bad if youre going to a known address. As for routes we compared it with Apple Maps, Google, and a Garmin car GPS a couple of times and the routes it gives are comparable but beware that if you dont have data you get no accounting for traffic. It actually worked better than the Garmin in our friends car when looking for a petrol station on the last day - the other GPS tried to kill the driver by sending them the wrong way down a one way street.
